Move Health is a community-focused health initiative developed by physiotherapist and academic Dr Chris Seenan, working with students, community partners and local organisations.
Our aim is simple: to connect university knowledge and student energy with real community needs.
Through collaborative activities and small-scale initiatives, Move Health supports healthier ageing, physical activity, falls prevention and health literacy while creating meaningful learning opportunities for students.
We believe universities should play an active role in supporting the wellbeing of the communities around them.
Working with local organisations to develop practical activities that support mobility, confidence, independence and everyday health.
Creating meaningful opportunities for students to contribute, learn and develop through supervised community engagement.
Collaborating with care homes, community groups, charities and public sector partners to respond to local priorities.
Focusing on early support, health literacy and access for communities who may face barriers to traditional services.
Move Health was created to explore how universities can contribute more directly to community health.
Our approach is:
Evidence-informed
Community-rooted
Student-supported
Prevention-focused
Collaborative
By bringing together students, professionals and community partners we aim to create initiatives that are practical, inclusive and locally meaningful.
Move Health works with organisations including:
care homes and residential services
community centres and local groups
charities and third-sector organisations
public sector and healthcare partners
schools and community programmes
We are particularly interested in working with organisations supporting older adults, community wellbeing and health promotion.
If you are interested in working with Move Health or exploring a potential collaboration we would be pleased to hear from you.
