Move Health exists to strengthen the connection between university knowledge and community health.
We aim to create opportunities for:
communities to access practical, preventative health support
students to learn through meaningful civic engagement
organisations to work with the university in responsive and useful ways
new ideas and partnerships to emerge through collaboration
Move Health works in partnership with community organisations, care providers, charities and public services.
Our work is shaped by several core principles.
Many challenges related to mobility, falls, physical inactivity and confidence are influenced by everyday environments and access to support.
Move Health aims to respond earlier and more locally, while also supporting the development of future health professionals through meaningful community engagement.
By connecting university expertise with community knowledge we hope to contribute to healthier, more connected communities.
Move Health is currently developing as a university-associated civic health initiative focused on community engagement, student learning and local partnership.
The initiative is exploring models that support long-term sustainability, appropriate governance and community benefit while maintaining strong links with academic teaching, research and community collaboration.

We are building sustainable, community-based models of health support that complement existing services and strengthen local capacity.
We believe that when communities, healthcare professionals and future practitioners work together, we can create meaningful, preventative change.
